There's a pretty good help page titled "Shockwave - Flash Player Help" that clarifies the situation but doesn't provide a good download link. could i say an obvious pitfall? For example there are any number of SWF games people play on the web, so please be careful if you start trying to open non-Jing SWFs as described below.
