I don't think it works as a HKLM key, so this would need to be applied to each user - Group Policy is a great tool to do this in a First ,you need to make a new shortcut on the desktop , so right click the desktop /New/Shortcut and browse to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12 \WINWORD.EXE" ,click next and give a new Thank you very much - solved the problem for me. Over and over it appears and I am unable to cancel out unless I turn off the computer I tried to uninstall Office 2003 but it will not let me. If this check box is selected, when you select the Finish button, the setup files are removed from the LIS. (Side note: This check-box is not selected by default). The thing is that it only occurs on my computer but If I transfer to the file into my brothers computer the file works and I am able to open it However, I had to change my version to 12.0 instead of 11.0, as 11.0 did not exist in the registry. But all this is very sad indeed, after publishing this article I posted all pertaining information to a Microsoft newsgroup; it was as early as in November 2007, to no avail :(
Your fix worked! and all the rest of my programs. Thus, in order to detect Office 2003, you must know the ProductCode for the Office 2003 SKU (i.e., Standard, Professional, etc.). It finally worked.

To uninstall the Microsoft Office suite automatically, download and run the following Fix It solutions. I suppose however that you can try deleting them.

If I understood it well Microsoft is aware of these issues. Maybe other blog readers will be able to test and confirm that deleting the mentioned DLL also solves the issue. None of the files could be opened, all the Office programs gave this message "the file is not available". Currently, we believe this key is created by Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2. I found lots of others complaining of the same problem, but no one had an answer. To delete the LIS, you can run: LISTOOL.exe remove=all This will delete the LIS, and allow Office 2010 setup to succeed.
