My cd drive worked for over a year and all of a sudden it didn't. You will have to take off the silver casing on the top of the DVD drive. However, when I tried to insert a game disc into the DVD slot, it would not insert. Reassembling all the components (If you do this make sure to take note of the location of each screw and piece/part) and supplying power resulted in our unit working without issue.
sp1 both drives see any burned cd/dvd's as blank but all production dvd's (store purchased) run fine. I tried it 3 times.
